Customize Your Application to Handle Large Images
Solve the problems associated with large imagery datasets. ERDAS ECW JPEG2000 SDK allows desktop software developers to add support for the JPEG2000 and ECW image formats into their own applications. JPEG2000 is an International Organization of Standardization (ISO) image format. ECW is the defacto industry standard for rapidly handling large geospatial imagery.

NOTE: The ERDAS ECW JPEG2000 SDK v3.3 is no longer available. ERDAS will release v4.1 in July 2010. Please note when v4.1 is made available for download you will be required to provide your full name; organization name; full address to include country, telephone, and email; product name (if any); and a description of your intended use (to include if the use is for desktop, mobile or server). Use of the ERDAS ECW JPEG2000 SDK v4.1 requires advance acknowledgement of a EULA.

Native to ERDAS Product Lines
All ERDAS products use the ERDAS ECW JPEG2000 SDK, enabling customers to read and create data very fast. ERDAS IMAGINE, LPS, and ERDAS ER Mapper read and write ECW and JPEG2000 (as well as read ECW data via ECWP). On the server side, ERDAS APOLLO can also read, serve, and stream ECW(P) as well as write ECW and JPEG2000 in the clip, zip, and ship workflow.

ERDAS ECW JPEG2000 SDK is a free download that can be easily integrated into most desktop applications. Geospatial applications can then easily develop support for ECW and JPEG2000 images. After this, support can also be added for the high-performance ECWP image streaming protocol.
