Lee County, FL Property Appraiser
The Lee County Property Appraiser’s Office maintains a large amount of geospatial and business information. The office uses a GIS infrastructure to serve cadastral information and employs ERDAS APOLLO Essentials - Image Web Server in concert with the GIS to serve over 500 gigabytes of multi-year raster imagery. The unified cadastral/aerial photography view presents a complete land information picture to the user. Combining aerial photography from different years into a single browser interface lets users efficiently determine areas that have changed over time. This solution has overcome slow performance, costly hard disk and processor requirements, and other infrastructure bottlenecks.

State of Minas Gerais Image Catalog (Brazil)
In Brazil, RapidEye distributor Santiago & Cintra Consultoria has acquired more than three full coverages, equaling over 2,000,000 square kilometers of imagery, of the State of Minas Gerais. A web portal enables the Minister of the Environment and Sustainable Development of Minas Gerais to utilize this imagery and other spatial data is for environmental and forestry applications. Supporting this project, ERDAS APOLLO Professional is used to deliver this vast imagery store via download or a variety of compliant web services including OGC WMS, WCS and WFS. Multiple users can access the catalog concurrently to search, discover, filter, view, download, and subset (via Clip, Zip and Ship) the data.

Brazil Image Catalog
RapidEye owns and operates a constellation of five identical satellites for earth observation. These satellites are capable of daily revisits, capturing high resolution imagery for large land areas. In conjunction with Santiago & Cintra Consultoria, an ERDAS Distributor in Brazil, RapidEye Brazil utilizes ERDAS APOLLO Advantage to promote and demonstrate their image catalog for Brazil. Through the web application, end users and other partners can navigate and search for RapidEye imagery covering the full territory of Brazil. Geospatial information is available via Web Map Service (WMS) and WFS, including the imagery available with different time stamps. The website also provides the means for users to request quotes.

The Land and Property Management Authority (LPMA), in New South Wales, Australia manages the most comprehensive library of spatial data for the State. LPMA’s SIX (Spatial Information Exchange) geoportal provides this spatial data as services to many users in the geospatial community. SIX Viewer is powered by ERDAS APOLLO Essentials – Image Web Server and provides advanced tools for accessing this rich data. The client side is built with ERDAS and Esri technology, serving ECW data via ECWP. The SIX Lite refers to a light version (no plug-in required) that provides public access to this spatial data, and enables information query on the map.

This includes a massive 4.1 TB statewide mosaic of DOQs compressed to ECW format at a 9:1 ratio. The portal has an extraction tool that provides image subsets via the Clip, Zip and Ship capability.

State Land in the Tri-Border Region of Amazon, Acre and Rondonia
The United Nations Program for Development in Brazil required a pilot project to collect geospatial information about the legal and environmental status of lands in rural Brazil. The online geoportal and catalog demonstrate various types of land, including conservation units, indigenous lands, private lands and public forests. The program provides tools that support standards compliance, facilitating understanding that will guide management decisions related to land issues. In this project, complex data models in ERDAS APOLLO Essentials-SDI are utilized to statistically illustrate land distribution and use. Spatial data from the catalog is distributed via WMS and WFS and also through various map contexts.

Haiti Census Data
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) provides this site for the US Naval Research Lab at Stennis Space Center. Serving Web Feature Service (WFS) in ERDAS APOLLO Essentials – SDI, this site uses data from the 2003 Haiti Census to map the ‘human terrain’ in Haiti. For example, users can draw a geometry to query area population. A hurricane modeling tool shows affected population estimates along with 2003 Census data.
