ERDAS-Net License Instructions

These are the instructions sent by email with every ERDAS 2011 license file.

*     *     *

Attached is your license file for ERDAS software.

• You must have full administrative privileges (Windows) or root account access (UNIX/Linux) to install the license file.
• These instructions assume that you have already installed the software or the stand-alone license manager.
• The system ID in the license file’s name identifies the computer on which the license file should be installed. To find the system ID of a computer, go to Start > All Programs > ERDAS 2011 > ERDAS-Net Licensing 2011 > Show System ID or, for UNIX/Linux, open a terminal window and run .\LicAdmin, then System > Show Sysid.
• All ERDAS 2011 licenses are floating. Both floating and earlier-version node-locked licenses use the .elf file extension.
• Full documentation for licensing comes in PDF form with every software installation. For Windows, go to Start > All Programs > ERDAS 2011 > ERDAS-Net Licensing 2011, and see the FlexNet Administration Guide and the Installation Guide.

Quick-Start Licensing Instructions

1. Floating Licenses (all ERDAS 2011 software licenses [version 11.0 license files] are floating)
----------------------------
• Save the attached license file anywhere on the license server computer. Do not rename the file.
• Load the license file:
  • Automatic load: Double-click the license file. It will self-install. The ERDAS License Admin Tool opens, and the new license file is visible under the License Sources tree. Expand the tree to see licensed modules, or you may close this dialog.
  • Manual load: Use File > Load License File in the ERDAS License Admin Tool. To open the tool:
    • Windows: Start > All Programs > ERDAS 2011 > ERDAS-Net Licensing 2011 > License Administration.
    • UNIX/Linux: In a terminal window, run .\LicAdmin
• If you are using ERDAS software on your license server, start the software and it will run.
• If you are floating a license to other computers, go to your ERDAS software workstation(s) and start the ERDAS software.
• In the “Welcome to <Product Name>” dialog, check the “Specify License Server (Floating License)” button. In the white text box adjacent to that that line, enter the network name or the numeric IP address of the license server. Select Continue and the software will start.
  • Alternate: Use Server > Add Remote Server in the ERDAS License Admin Tool. To open the tool:
  • Windows: Start > All Programs > ERDAS 2010 > ERDAS-Net Licensing 2010 > License Administration.
  • UNIX/Linux: In a terminal window, run .\LicAdmin
• Start your ERDAS software.

2. Node-Locked Licenses (for ERDAS 2010 or 2009 [versions 10.0 & 9.3 node-locked license files] only)
-------------------------------
• Save the attached license file anywhere on your computer. Do not rename the file.
• Double-click the license file. It will self-install. The ERDAS License Admin Tool opens, and the new license file is visible under the License Sources tree. Expand the tree to see licensed modules, or you may close this dialog.
  • Alternate: If double-clicking fails, use File > Load License File in the ERDAS License Admin Tool. To open the tool:
  • Windows: Start > All Programs > ERDAS 2010 > ERDAS-Net Licensing 2010 > License Administration.
  • UNIX/Linux: In a terminal window, run .\LicAdmin
• Start your ERDAS software.

3. ArcGIS Extensions Licenses
-----------------------------
The ERDAS Extensions for ArcGIS (version 9.3 and up) do not use the ESRI license manager. The license must be installed in the ERDAS-Net license manager using these Quick-Start Licensing Instructions.

Please contact ERDAS Technical Support or contact your ERDAS distributor if you have problems with licensing.

Regards,

ERDAS Licensing Team
