ERDAS IMAGINE Tip 4 - Creating a Spatial Profile
Tip Overview:
If you have imagery and an elevation model available, you can create a spatial profile of a line or area. A spatial profile shows elevation change along a selected line or area. This is often useful when studying a route. For example, the spatial profile tool gives decision makers a better understanding of the terrain along a route.
Tip Process:
1. To create a spatial profile first load an elevation model then an image into a GLT Viewer.
2. From the Viewer, click the Profile Tool icon.
3. Enable the Spatial option and click OK. The profile tool dialog will open.

4. Click the Create Polyline icon.
5. Digitize a line across the terrain in the Viewer for the spatial profile. Double-click to terminate the line. The elevation profile will display in the profile window.

6. You can save this profile and add it to presentations or map compositions by selecting File > Save As and save it as an image.
