Enhancements

  • ERDAS Extensions for ArcGIS 10, Service Pack 2 contains the following feature enhancements and fixes:

    • ERDAS Extensions 2011 SP2 are now supported for running on top of ArcGIS 10 with ESRI’s Service Pack 2 installed.
    • Image Management tools have been reorganized on the Stereo Tab of the Table of Contents. Controls for adjusting brightness and contrast, band combinations and DRA for the pair or single image are accessible from this location. Changes will be persisted to the MXD when saving.
    • Right clicking on an image or name of an image pair from the Stereo tab view of the Table of Contents brings up a right click menu with the MultiView controls and optional include/exclude from pairs listing.
    • FeatureAssist now contains an Export to KML function

This service pack is cumulative and contains the following items from Service Pack 1:

    • ERDAS Extensions for ArcGIS 10 now support ArcGIS 10 with ESRI's Service Pack 1.

  • The 2010 Version 10.1 update is installed for the following ERDAS Extensions for ArcGIS:

    • Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS 9.3
    • ERDAS Terrain Editor for ArcGIS 9.3
    • FeatureAssist for ArcGIS 9.3
    • Image Analysis for ArcGIS 9.3

ERDAS Extensions 2010 Version 10.1 contains the following feature enhancements:

    Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS

    • Footprint Layer to Shapefile

A new option from the Stereo Analyst toolbar dropdown menu, the Footprint Layer to Shapefile function, creates a new polygon shapefile with the extents of the oriented images in the ArcMap document window. Each polygon within the file is automatically attributed with its corresponding image name.

    • Support for Single Band Display

Stereo Analyst now supports loading single bands from multispectral data into the Stereo Window. To accommodate various workflows, there are two ways to achieve this end result. Right-clicking on the stereo pair listing in the Stereo Tab will bring up a dialog that allows for a grayscale option. After the selection of grayscale, the band combination box allows for the choice of a single band for display. The displayed band can be changed at any time by revisiting and modifying this selection. Alternatively, selecting a single band of data in the add data dialog will result in the software constructing stereo pairs using just the single displayed band as opposed to the entire multispectral image. This option will not allow for the change of the band used for display in the Stereo Tab dialog, but will conserve system resources by limiting the amount of data loaded in ArcMap.

    • Additional Device Support

Support for the USB Stealth Z and SpaceExplorer devices have been added. The Stealth Z mouse is the USB replacement for the serial port Stealth Mouse. The serial port version will continue to be supported at this time. The SpaceExplorer mouse is a new device from 3Dconnection, a Logitech company.

    • CSM Plug-in Manager

Third party sensor model dlls built using the Community Sensor Model specification guidelines, compiled with Visual Studio 2003 or 2005 and using NITF metadata input may be added and configured to run in the Stereo Analyst environment via the new CSM Plug-in Manager. The Plug-in Manager can be accessed from the Stereo Analyst category listing in the Customization dialog and added to an existing toolbar or placed on its own toolbar. CSM models are part of the PTW/JTW, CGS targeting platforms and MSP Ruler replacement and can be obtained through the appropriate US government security channels.

    • New Product: Defense Formats for Stereo Analyst

The new Defense Formats for Stereo Analyst product is a US Defense Only product that adds TFRD raster and MC&G sensor model support and enables their direct consumption and use in the Stereo Window. The Defense Formats for Stereo Analyst software is classified and therefore not a part of the ERDAS Extensions 2010.1 installer. Qualifying customers should contact their ERDAS sales representative for more information.

    FeatureAssist for ArcGIS

    • Perspective Viewer

The perspective viewer available from the FeatureAsisst toolbar no longer requires a 3D Analyst license. The previous technology has been replaced with native code from ERDAS. This is the first in a series of enhancements planned for this tool.

ERDAS Extensions 2010.1 also contains the following fixes:

    Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS

    • Previously, if an output file extension was not specified and a file by the same name already existed, the Features to 3D tool would overwrite the existing file without warning. The software will now warn before proceeding. The tool has also been enhanced to provide the option of going out to a format different than that of the input. [SAA-16]

    • The Windows 7 operating system is now a supported OS for running the ERDAS Extensions for ArcGIS, but only when run from an account with Administrator privileges for the machine. Users without Administrator privileges will encounter issues operating the software. [SAA-810]

    • The state of Multiview windows is now persisted when saving an .MXD file. The MXD will retain the loaded data, location and scale. [SAA-830]

    • An issue preventing the modification of the units of a vertical coordinate system during import has been addressed. [SAA-1002]

    • The number of decimals displayed for the coordinate information at the base of the Stereo Window is now configurable in the SAFA.pdf. The SAFA.pdf is a preference file in the defaults folder of the install directory for the ERDAS Extensions for ArcGIS. The file may be modified by right clicking on the file name and opening it with an application such as Notepad. [SAA-1012]

    • An issue resulting in a delayed response when layers are turned on or off in the ArcMap document window when the stereo window is displayed has been addressed. [SAA-1013]

    • FORMOSAT .DIM files are now supported for use in Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS. [SAA-1018]

    • The performance when selecting and or editing a large feature with many vertices has been improved. [SAA-1019]

    ERDAS Terrain Editor for ArcGIS

    • The color and size for the vertices of terrain breaklines can be configured for display in stereo window. [SAA-648]

    • The terrain breakline tools now support and honor the monotonic mode settings. [SAA-838]

    FeatureAssist for ArcGIS

    • A refresh issue caused by the Perspective View from FeatureAssist for ArcGIS being placed over the Stereo Window has been addressed. Additionally, the Perspective View has been replaced with ERDAS technology and no longer requires 3D Analyst to be installed and licensed. [SAA-969]

    • The snap settings for FeatureAssist for ArcGIS have been extended to allow for the prioritization of snap targets and control over their feedback display. The revamped Snapping Tab from the Options dialog of the Stereo Rooftop Toolbar allows for the specification of priority, tolerance, snap target size and color. [SAA-1081]

    Image Analysis for ArcGIS

    • An issue preventing the successful processing of large image files has been resolved. This issue affected the mosaic and image classification tools of Image Analysis for ArcGIS. [IAA-418]
