When our license server restarts or if I log off it the license manager goes offline and clients can't check license staus.  To get license manager to work I must logon and launch the license adminstration.  I tried uninstall and reinstall, and repair install. How do I make the license manager run independently of a user logon.

The service was not installed correctly on the system and did not appear in the Windows Services. However, the erdas-net daemon and lmgrd were running as processes in the background. These processes were owned by the currently logged in user which is why the processes stopped when the user logged off. The problem machine was running Windows Server 2003. Here is the procedure used to re-install the license and service.

1. Opened the Task Manager and clicked on the Processes tab. Stopped the "erdas-net" and "lmgrd" process owned by the currently logged in user. Closed Task Manager.

2. Deleted 'floating-licenses' folder located at c:\program files\erdas\shared\licensing\licenses.

3. Deleted the 'erdasnet_LICENSE_PATH' file located at c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\erdas\shared\licensing.

4. Opened the License Administration Tool and used File->Load License to load the license file. License loaded fine and the service installed properly.

Customer was able to restart the machine and start Imagine from a client without logging in and starting the service. The service started automatically as designed.
