Unlicensed Menu Items in ERDAS IMAGINE and How to Remove Them
January 25, 2011
(Pertains to ERDAS IMAGINE 2010 and earlier versions only)
ERDAS IMAGINE, by default, installs all modules during installation, unless you manually de-select the modules you do not own. This does not create any problems, but it wastes disk space and may lead to frustration because all the menu icons and options are present, even if there is no license for them. This is easy to correct after the fact. Here is a quick example for a customer that has one license of IMAGINE Professional:
1. Insert the ERDAS 2010 Software DVD or run the downloaded installer. Select ERDAS IMAGINE 2010 and start the installation.
2. At startup, you will get a dialog to Install, Modify, or Repair. Select Modify.
3. The next dialog is a tree-view of available modules. Deselect all modules except for IMAGINE Professional, Java Runtime Environment, and Help. Run it.
The next time you open ERDAS IMAGINE, you will only see menu icons and options for which you have a license.
